Building a Base Tan Before Spring

Spring is just around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you’re already dreaming of sunny days and that golden glow that comes with it. One way to kickstart your tan before the weather warms up is by utilizing UV Therapy at SOL SPA for a base tan. It’s a popular trick to ease into the season without burning the first time you step outside. So, how do you do it right? Let’s break it down.
First off, start slow. If you’re new to tanning or haven’t been in a while, don’t overdo it. A few minutes—say, 4 to 6— is plenty to get your skin used to the UV exposure. Gradually build up your time over a couple of weeks. The goal here is a light, even tan that protects you a bit when spring sunshine hits, not a lobster-red disaster.
Moisturizing is your best friend. Tanning beds can dry out your skin fast, so slather on a good indoor UV lotion before and an after tan moisturizer after each session. It’ll keep your skin happy and help your tan develop evenly. At SOL SPA we offer a wide variety of products for every skin type. Just ask your Spa Consultant for recommendations during staffed hours.
Don’t skip the goggles either. Those little eye protectors might feel goofy, but they’re non-negotiable. UV rays are no joke to your eyes, and you’ll thank yourself later when you’re not squinting through spring break.
Frequency matters too. Two or three sessions a week for a couple of weeks should do the trick for a solid base tan.
By the time spring rolls around you’ll be rocking a subtle tan that’s ready to deepen naturally. It’s like giving yourself a head start on summer vibes. Who doesn’t love that? If you aren’t as dark as you’d prefer, top it off with a spray tan, all available at your one stop shop for the perfect glow, SOL SPA.
