Getting & Keeping Your Vacation Spray Tan
Planning a vacation and want to look sun-kissed and radiant from the moment you step off the plane? A spray tan at SOL SPA is the perfect solution for achieving that bronzed glow! This past Memorial Day holiday, my amazing work family and I spent an extended weekend at the beautiful Hyatt Ziva Cancun Resort celebrating our professional accomplishments. This yearly incentive trip is one we all look forward to, and it has always taken place somewhere tropical and breathtaking. If you know me, then you know that means showing up with a perfect tan is a must. But, keeping it going the entirety of the trip is just as important! Here are some tips that can help you do the same this summer on your vacations:
Pre-Vacation Prep: Getting the Perfect Spray Tan
-Choose the Right Time: Schedule your spray tan appointment on the SOL SPA app one to two days before your departure. This timing ensures your tan has fully developed and any initial bronzer has been washed off, revealing the true color.
-Exfoliate Thoroughly: Exfoliate your skin 24 hours before your appointment to remove dead skin cells. Focus on areas like elbows, knees, and ankles. Use an oil-free scrub for the best results, as oils can create a barrier on your skin. My personal favorite is SOL SPA’s Body Buff exfoliating wash. It’s both a body wash and an exfoliator, so you can kill two birds with one stone!
-Avoid Moisturizers and Makeup: On the day of your tan, keep your skin clean and free from lotions, perfumes, and makeup. These products can interfere with the tanning solution, leading to an uneven tan.
-Wear Loose Clothing: After your spray tan, wear dark, loose-fitting clothes to avoid any rub-off or smudging. Avoid tight straps and waistbands that can create lines in your fresh tan.
Maintaining Your Spray Tan on Vacation
-Timing Your First Shower: Wait at least 8-12 hours before taking your first shower after the spray tan. When you do, use lukewarm water and a gentle, oil-free body wash. Pat your skin dry instead of rubbing to preserve the tan.
-Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize: Hydration is key to maintaining your tan. Apply a tan-friendly, oil-free moisturizer twice daily. Focus on keeping your skin hydrated to prevent peeling and fading.
-Avoid Prolonged Water Exposure: Prolonged exposure to water, such as swimming or long showers, can cause your tan to fade faster. Opt for short showers and avoid hot tubs and chlorine pools when possible.
-Use Tan Extenders: Prolonged exposure to water, such as swimming or long showers, can cause your tan to fade faster. This is pretty much unavoidable on a tropical vacation, so bringing along a self tanner is a must. This will help maintain your color and keep it looking fresh longer. SOL SPA offers an array of options in foams, lotions, and sprays for all skin types.
Enjoying Your Bronzed Look
A well-maintained spray tan can last up to a week, perfect for most vacations. Follow these tips, and you’ll stay looking sun-kissed and glowing throughout your trip, without having to spend hours baking in the sun.
By preparing properly before your trip and taking a few simple steps to maintain your tan while you’re away, you can enjoy a beautiful, natural-looking glow from start to finish. So go ahead, book that spray tan on the SOL SPA app, pack your bags, and get ready to shine on your vacation!
